It’s official. Shake Shack is coming to Coral Gables. This news comes a day after The New York Times released an article in which Shake Shack owner Danny Meyer talked about scouting a Coral Gables location. Shake Shack will move into the space which is currently occupied by Smoke’t (1450 South Dixie Highway.) Shake Shack is scheduled to open in the second half of 2012 and will be geared toward the University of Miami students. “‘Here the clientele would be undergrads. ‘Should have a lot of TVs, and ultra-cool music so the students come over,'” Meyer’s partner David Swinghamer said. “‘This is an alternative to going to a bar.”“You’d want some neon that said something about ice-cold beer,’ Meyer said.” I wonder how the Five Guys down the street feels about this.
