Earlier today, Florence Fabricant at the NYT confirmed that Andrew Carmellini is opening a branch of his NYC restaurant The Dutch at the W South Beach.
The restaurant is scheduled to open sometime in December, just in time for Art Basel.
“Mr. Carmellini said he wanted to add some iconic dishes he associates with Miami, like sour orange pie, grouper sandwiches at lunch and local shrimp — “the best,” Fabricant said. He described the restaurant as “very airy, indoor-outdoor,” unlike the urban feel of the Dutch in New York. But there will be an oyster bar, as in New York.”
