Your Guide to the Unofficial Events of SOBEWFF 2017

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival officially kicks off tonight! Lots of events are sold out, but you could still score some tickets to some awesome events too! If that’s not your thing, don’t worry there are plenty of ‘Unofficial’ SOBEWFF events happening all over the city that might be up your alley.

Here is your guide to the Unofficial Events of SOBEWFF 2017:

All Week

Pubbelly Burger Week – February 20th – February 25th
The menu will include 10 burgers designed by Chef Mendin, Chef Guillermo Concha & Chef Craig Wolsk. Monday thru Thursday for Lunch; Friday for Lunch; Friday and Saturday for Late night. Info

Wednesday, February 22nd

SOBEWFF Kick Off After Party at Pawn Broker – 11p
Will Rivas, Beverage Director of the Pubbelly Group, will be hosting nationally renowned (and very good friend) bartender, Yael Vengroff, at Pawn Broker, for the greatest rooftop after-party in Downtown Miami. Top bartender of The Spare Room, Hollywood CA, Yael will use delicious & exotic tastes to craft her concoctions at the Miami Rooftop, and William Rivas, will craft an exciting assortment of cocktails, representing the finest Pawn Broker has to offer.

Thursday, February 23rd

SOBEWFF Kick Off Dinner: Childhood Memories February 23 – 8p
In collaboration with Miami Ink’s clothing line, Ruthless & Toothless, Chef Jose Mendin will be serving up a collection of original dishes inspired by his childhood memories, alongside great friends Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette of Toro. To top the night off, making an exclusive appearance will be Darren Brass, of the celebrated reality show, Miami Ink. It will be a night you won’t want to miss! $85 pp – Tickets

Made In Dade Chef’s Cookout – Phuc Yea – 8p
Michael Beltran from Ariete, Rene Reyes & John Gallo from Pinch Kitchen, Niven Patel from Ghee Indian Kitchen, Cesar Zapata from Phuc Yea. Featuring a selection of the crispest east and west coast oysters by Blue Island Oysters & Estrella Damm Beer and a chef inspired menu of Viet Cajun Seafood Boil / crawfish, shrimp, clams, potatoes, andouille sausage, corn, Vietnamese aromatics, beer, Glazed Caramel Pork Spare Ribs / fish sauce caramel, scallions, sesame, apple wood smoked, Pig-nics / caja china roasted hams, lemon grass, chillies, garlic, ginger, pho spice and Sides, Fixins & Sauces prepared by guest chefs. Midnight Breakfast Club – Brava! – 11p
Join Trends on Trends and Chef Brad Kilgore of Brava! and Alter in Miami for a Midnight Breakfast Club full of breakfast sandwiches, stickers, and lots of boozy beverages at BRAVA By Brad Kilgore. Food and fun and open bar for as long as the alcohol lasts… so we suggest getting there early. Tickets are only $25 per person! Get your tickets here.

Friday, February 24th

Alter for the Eats, Rhymes, and Life – Alter/East – 7p
Join James Beard nominated Chef, Bradley Kilgore at James Beard nominated restaurant, Alter for the Eats, Rhymes, and Life event hosted at Alter and sponsored by Breakthru Beverage and the new East Hotel. Beginning at 7 pm with an Interactive 5 Course Dinner with Beverage and Music Pairings from Chefs Brad Kilgore and Brandon Brumback and Co-Hosted by Jarobi White of Tribe Called Quest followed by After Party Access on the 40th Floor of East Hotel, DJ set by Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Cocktails and Wines Offered from Breakthru Beverage. Ramen Late Night at Pubbelly Sushi Miami Beach – Midnight
The grand finale to SOBEWFF, it’s Ramen Late Night at Pubbelly Sushi, Miami Beach. Hosted by Chef Jose Mendin, Chef Richie Nakano formerly of Hapa Ramen, will be cooking alongside the Miami chef creating 2 very tasty Ramen dishes. And, making a very special musical appearance and his debut act at the venue, is DJ Terry Cloth.

Saturday, February 25th

Oh Baby I Like It Raw – Izzy’s Fish & Oyster – 10p
Come throw down with Jamie DeRosa on Saturday, February 25 at Izzy’s Fish & Oyster’s raw bar for their second edition of “Oh Baby I Like It Raw” guest chef series. The fun starts at 10 pm and the two guest chefs on deck will be Boston favorites, Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer of The Little Donkey. The Bostonians, Jamie B. and Ken, will be putting their spin on Scallop Crudo and Tuna Tataki. Jamie plans to keep it tropical with his Florida Citrus and White Soy Ponzu inspired dressed oyster.

Sunday, February 26th

La Resaca – Taquiza– 1p
Join Steve Santana and local friends on Sunday, February 26 at 1 PM for La Resaca, a special brunch collaboration with local Chefs William Crandall, Niven Patel, Michael Beltran and Roland Baker of Vice City Bean. Taquiza 1506 Collins Ave. Miami Beach, FL.
