Trulia Guest Post : Top Miami Foodie Neighborhoods

Top Miami Foodie Neighborhoods

By Sam Brannan of Trulia

Miami’s neighborhoods are cultural hotbeds teeming with sought-after, esteemed international cuisines. “The Magic City” is known for its beaches, great weather and rich culture, but residents are just as proud of their local, delicious food with connections from New York City, Cuba and destinations around the world. If you are looking to take a bite of the unique Miami cuisine head to Wynwood, Miami Beach, and Brickell for some of the best gastronomical experiences Miami has to offer.

  1. Wynwood

If there’s one can’t-miss gourmand destination in Miami, it’s the Wynwood neighborhood. For the last decade, gentrification has refurbished Wynwood from a dive, into a globally-recognized destination for artists and foodies alike with its spectacular art community and trendy restaurant scene. What used to be the warehouse and manufacturing district of Miami, Wynwood is now fostering growth of new creative businesses, art galleries and performance art spaces like nowhere else in Miami.

Join the thousands who come out for the Second Saturday Art Walk to admire the Wynwood Walls, where over 80 artists representing 16 countries have transformed plain warehouse walls into a magnificent outdoor museum. Stop by one of many food truck vendors along your Art Walk for a quick bite of Latin style burgers or Asian street food. Or join the Miami Culinary Tours for a one-mile stroll through Wynwood’s art district and stops at five of its delectable eateries. This is a great way to try popular dishes like Peruvian seafood at GK Bistronomie, or the Peruvian-Japanese fusion sushi at Suviche Wynwood.

  1. Miami Beach

Among many things, Miami Beach is a foodie’s heaven. Although a small geographic area, Miami Beach has plenty of desirable amenities. Take a wander down Collins Avenue to admire the famous architecture of the Art Deco District, and hop right across the street to relax on the beach. With hundreds of restaurants spanning from City Center to South Pointe, there’s with almost too many to choose from – including a selection of different cultural foods.

Pane & Vino is a top-notch Italian restaurant in the heart of the Flamingo/Lummus neighborhood – its Italian recipes are so authentic, that you might think you’re in the heart of Sicily. Famous for its Cuban influence, Miami and most particularly Miami Beach, offers a cornucopia of options. Ola at the Sanctuary Hotel is an award-winning restaurant serving up Cuban dishes like Ox Tail Soup. If you’re hungering for a quick bite, check out Las Olas CafĂ© located in Flamingo/Lummus for a delicious Cuban sandwich.

  1. Brickell

High-rises and skyscrapers fill the signature Brickell skyline, where at night, the luminous blue water reflects onto the buildings and crowds of people pour into the streets for fine dining and sensational nightlife. Although, it wasn’t until recently that Brickell has become a premier hub for gastronomy and mixology. Brickell’s growing workforce and population of residents have supported growth of new restaurants, nightlife destinations and has become a hotspot for visitors.

With new restaurants everywhere you go in Brickell, there’s something here for everyone. If you’re looking for the perfect place for a special occasion, reserve a table at The Capital Grille.  Enjoy its classy atmosphere with superb dry-aged steaks and fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Want what some consider a once-in-a-lifetime occasion? The masterfully crafted sushi at the luxurious NAOE, a top-notch Japanese restaurant on Brickell Key.

Despite your age, occupation, or lifestyle, if you have a serious palate for delicious food, Miami and its surrounding areas will not let you down.
