First Taste

First Taste : Federal Donuts Miami

Miami is officially riding a donut explosion.

Federal Donuts has officially joined the growing list of donut shops in Miami. Federal Donuts is different though, they are also serving fried chicken. ????

Federal Donuts comes to us from chef Michael Solomonov and his business partner Steve Cook. The Miami location is the first one outside of Philly.

The menu here is simple: ‘Hot and Fresh and ‘Fancy.’ The fancy donuts rotate throughout the year, but when we went by it was guava poppy, strawberry shortcake, lemon meringue, black & white, chocolate éclair, and blueberry mascarpone. The hot and fresh donuts are made to order and tossed in flavored sugar including strawberry lavender, cinnamon brown sugar or cookies ‘n cream. Both donuts are made in house daily.

Now for the fried chicken! You can get some of Miami’s best fried chicken at Federal Donuts everyday, made to order starting at 11am daily. You can get a half or whole chicken served dry, wet or naked. Wet includes chili garlic, sweet soy garlic and honey ginger. Dry includes za’atar, buttermilk ranch and coconut curry. You can also get a fried chicken sandwich with buttermilk ranch seasoning, spicy sauce inside a Martin’s Potato Roll and served with a doughnut on the side.

Check out the menu here.

Federal Donuts is located at 250 NW 24th Street in Wynwood.

Federal Donuts is open Sunday to Wednesday from 7a to 8p and Thursday to Saturday until 10p.

We had a chance to swing by twice and here are some of the amazing donuts and chicken you could be feasting on:
